# The RADIQ skill

A skill is a short instruction file your AI reads when it's relevant. The RADIQ skill teaches it which RADIQ tool to reach for, how to pick time ranges, how to cite what it found, and how to set up automations that work the first time.

Connect RADIQ first ([how](https://myradiq.com/docs/connect)). The skill tells your AI how to use the RADIQ tools; without the connection it has no tools to use. Even without the skill, RADIQ sends your AI a short version of these instructions when it connects.

## Claude Desktop and claude.ai

1.  Download [radiq-skill.zip](https://myradiq.com/skills/radiq-skill.zip). Don't unzip it.
2. In Claude, open **Settings → Capabilities** and turn on **Code execution and file creation** (called **Create and edit files** in newer versions). Skills need it.
3. Open **Customize → Skills**, click **+**, then **Create skill → Upload a skill**, and choose `radiq-skill.zip`.
4. Check that **radiq** is switched on in your skills list.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner has to allow skills first, under **Organization settings**. See [Anthropic's guide](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/12512180-use-skills-in-claude).

The skill syncs to Claude on the web too, but the RADIQ tools only run in **Claude Desktop** on the computer where RADIQ is installed.

## Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Hermes and OpenClaw

These apps read skills from a folder in your home folder. Put the `radiq` folder inside it:

| App | Skills folder |
| --- | --- |
| Claude Code | `~/.claude/skills/` |
| Codex | `~/.agents/skills/` |
| Cursor | `~/.cursor/skills/` (Cursor also reads `~/.agents/skills/`) |
| Hermes | `~/.hermes/skills/` |
| OpenClaw | `~/.openclaw/skills/` |

Or install it from Terminal. Set `D` to the folder from the table, then download the skill into it. This example is for Claude Code:

```
D=~/.claude/skills
mkdir -p "$D/radiq" && curl -fsSL https://www.myradiq.com/skills/radiq/SKILL.md -o "$D/radiq/SKILL.md"
```

For Codex use `D=~/.agents/skills`, which also covers Cursor.

Start a new session afterwards, then ask "which skills do you have?" to check that **radiq** is listed.

Connecting from the RADIQ app also installs two reference skills, `radiq-api` and `radiq-cli`, into these folders. Keep them: the RADIQ skill covers everyday use, and those cover the full API and command line.

## What the skill changes

- **Lightest tool first.** Broad questions go to the activity summary, which does time math correctly. Exact searches and full screen captures only when needed.
- **Grounded answers.** Your AI cites moments with links you can open in RADIQ, and keeps "seen on screen" apart from "done".
- **Safe with captured content.** Your AI is told to treat text from your screen as evidence, never as instructions, so it ignores commands hidden in a web page or document.
- **Automations that run.** It checks for an existing automation first, uses a schedule RADIQ understands, tests the run, and fixes warnings before saying it's done.

## Updating

Download it again and upload or copy it over the old one. The file name and folder stay the same.
