# Automations

An automation (RADIQ calls it a **pipe**) is an instruction RADIQ runs on a schedule, such as a daily recap, a weekly client report, or a reminder about promises you made in meetings. It keeps running when your AI chat is closed.

## Create one by asking

Describe what you want, when, and where the result should go:

> Every weekday at 9am, look at yesterday's work and meetings and send me a standup draft as a notification.

> Every Friday at 5pm, list what I promised in this week's client calls and send it to my Telegram.

Your AI then:

1.  checks your existing automations, so it doesn't make a duplicate;
2.  creates the pipe with a schedule RADIQ understands;
3.  **runs it once straight away** and shows you the result;
4. fixes any warning (for example, a schedule RADIQ couldn't read) before telling you it's set.

You'll find it in the RADIQ app under **Automation**.

## Recipes to copy

Paste one of these into Claude, Codex or Hermes, or into RADIQ's Chat, and adjust it.

> Every weekday at 9am, look at yesterday's work and meetings and write my standup: done, next, blockers. Send it as a notification.

> Every Friday at 5pm, list everything I promised someone in this week's meetings, with who and when, and send it to my Telegram.

> Every day at 6pm, summarise where my time went today by project and app, and save it as a markdown file in my Documents folder.

> Every Monday at 8am, list the open loops from last week's client calls and draft a follow-up line for each one.

> Every 2 hours on weekdays, check whether I said I'd send someone something and haven't yet, and remind me with a notification.

> Every Sunday at 7pm, write a weekly review: wins, what slipped, and the three things to focus on next week.

Results go where you ask: a notification, a file, or a connected app such as Telegram or Slack. Connect those first in **Connections**.

## Change, pause or test

> Change my standup automation to 8:30am.

> Pause the Friday client report until further notice.

> Run the standup automation now and show me what it produces.

> Why didn't my daily recap run this morning?

To delete an automation, use the **Automation** section of the RADIQ app. Your AI can pause one but can't delete it.

## Create one in the app

Open **Automation** in RADIQ and click **create automation**. You can also start from a suggestion under **things to try**. In the app, an automation can start on a schedule or when something happens:

- **Meetings**: when a meeting starts or ends, or a calendar event starts.
- **After another automation finishes**, to chain steps.
- **Connected apps**: for example a new Slack message in a channel, a new GitHub issue or pull request, a Linear issue assigned to you, a Notion page edited, a new Outlook email, or a new Obsidian note.

Each automation card shows when it last ran and whether that run failed. From the card you can **run automation**, turn auto-run on or off, star it, change its **AI preset**, or open it in Chat to change it. If an automation needs a connection you haven't set up, it says so and links to **Connections**.

## Schedules

| Say | RADIQ schedule |
| --- | --- |
| Every 30 minutes | `every 30m` |
| Every 2 hours | `every 2h` |
| Every day at 9am | `every day at 9am` |
| Every Monday at 9am | `every monday at 9am` |
| Weekdays at 9am | `0 9 * * MON-FRI` |

Times use your computer's time zone. If you write cron schedules yourself, use day names (`MON-FRI`) rather than numbers. Automations your AI creates run on a schedule; for meeting or app triggers, create the automation in the app.

## Where results go

- **A notification** on your computer, with optional buttons such as "draft reply".
- **A file** on your computer, such as a markdown report.
- **Apps you've connected in RADIQ**, such as Telegram, Slack or Discord. Connect them first in RADIQ's **Connections**.
- **Back into RADIQ**, for example as a memory or a meeting note.

## How automations run

- RADIQ's own agent runs each automation, using the AI model set for that pipe (RADIQ Cloud by default; change it in the pipe's settings in the app). Automations don't use your Claude or ChatGPT chat subscription.
- RADIQ must be running and your computer awake at the scheduled time.
- Each run is logged. Ask your AI to read the logs, or open the pipe in **Automation**.
